This body of work explores the everyday and its impact on expressions of place identity
in relation to residents of the city of Lagos. This reflection of Lagosian Identity grounded
its contexts in Lagos’ culture,
history, and all-around everyday life gleaned from a multi-method
approach, including in-depth interviews and
archival research. The goal was to uncover and showcase
personal stories, collective memories, and shared narratives that contribute to the formation of
Lagosian place identity.
The constituting pieces integrate collages digitally
augmented with AR
(Augmented Reality) elements to create an interactive and dynamic visual experience, inviting
viewers to engage
with the city’s layered history and cultural fabric.
Through the convergence of traditional and digital mediums, this work aims to
stimulate conversations around the OMO EKO identity and its cultural memory.
